Gartcairn could hand Cambuslang Rangers title boost after ineligible player slip

Gartcairn could be docked points in the West of Scotland League Conference B after being accused of fielding an ineligible player against leaders Cambuslang Rangers.

The Airdrie side beat Rangers 2-0 at MTC Park on September 29 in a rearranged match, but fielded Joshua Gracie, who was believed to have been suspended.

Goals from Owen Ronald and Ross McNeil gave Gartcairn a good win on the evening, but that might be rescinded now.

Gartcairn have appealed against any sanction, and a hearing will be held on Friday.

Handing Cambuslang three points would make a massive difference to the title race.

Rangers are currently four points ahead of St Cadoc’s, which would be increased to seven.

They would also be 12 clear of Gartcairn in third place, which would effectively end their title charge.

Royal Albert have already been docked three points in Conference B for fielding an ineligible player, which came with a fine, even though they explained that they had done so accidentally.
