Gartcairn always had faith in goal-scoring captain, says No.2

Gartcairn No.2 Scott Mills says hot-shot striker Ross McNeil was made captain because they knew he would get goals.

The former Caledonian Braves striker added to his tally for the season with a hat-trick in Saturday’s 6-1 West of Scotland League Conference B win over Royal Albert, and Mills says they were keen to get him on board in the summer.

Mills said: "Ross has been brilliant this season and that’s why he was named captain.

"We knew his quality, we knew what he would bring to the club with goals, first and foremost, but also all his experience, positivity and desire, so we’re really pleased with Ross.”
