Ohio State wide receiver, Garrett Wilson, was named a finalist for the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Tuesday. The award is handed out annually to an FBS college football player judged to be the best from the state of Texas. It can be a player that played high school or college ball in Texas, or one that was born in the Lone Star state.
Though originally born in Ohio, Wilson moved to Texas at an early age and played for Lake Travis High School in Austin, Texas, before committing to play for the Buckeyes. He had one whale of a junior year in 2021, finishing with 1,058 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns on 70 receptions.
The other finalists for the award are UTSA running back Sincere McCormick, running back Abram Smith of Baylor, Kansas State running back Deuce Vaughn, and quarterback Bailey Zappe from Western Kentucky.

Ohio State has had two finalists for the award in years past, quarterback J.T. Barrett in 2017, and then J.K. Dobbins who took home the honor in 2019.
