Garmin’s Quatix 7 Is A Fenix 7 Made For Mariners

Garmin Quatix 7 Garmin

Garmin has further expanded its range of high-end exercise and adventure watches with the Quatix 7 series, made for those who want to track at sea.

There are three models in the range, the Garmin Quatix 7, Quatix 7 Sapphire and Quatix 7 Solar. While the base model is quite similar to the Fenix 7, the Quatix 7 Sapphire is closer to the Garmin Epix 2 as it has a bright and colorful OLED screen.

The Solar is the largest of the three, with a 51mm diameter to the 47mm of the other two, and uses a classic Garmin MIP display with a solar charging ring around the screen.

Much like the Garmin Dezl watch, made for truck drivers, the Quatix 7’s marine specialization rests largely on the way it brings certain software features to the forefront.

The Fusion Link app can control the entertainment systems of supported boat dashboards, the autopilot app lets you alter the heading from the watch itself. And data can be streamed from the boat’s hardware to the watch, for easy access to stats like the engine’s RPM and water depth.

All of this is, of course, dependent on the boat having Garmin boat instruments that can communicate with the Garmin Quatix 7.

These seafaring extras aside, the range still offers all the great key fitness and exercise tracking features of the Fenix 7 and Epix watches. Maps can be loaded onto their internal memory for connection-free navigation on land. The base Quatix 7 has 16GB storage, the other two 32GB.

All three are water resistant to 10ATM, like Garmin’s other top watches. And their batteries last a long while off a charge.

The standard Garmin Quatix 7 is rated for up to 18 days of use, the Solar 28 days or 37 with a good amount of sun hitting the solar panel each day. The OLED screen Sapphire Quatix 7 lasts up to 16 days, or six with the screen set to its Always On mode.

All three are available to order now with an “estimated availability” of 3-5 weeks. The Garmin Quantix 7 range starts at $699, rising to $999 for the Sapphire model and $1199 for the top-end Solar version.
