Gareth Taylor sends Man City Women warning ahead of Spurs clash

Manchester City travel to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday as they look to extend their WSL winning record to 12 games in a row, which would meet the all-time record for the best run in a single season set by Arsenal in 2018.

City are two points off table-toppers Chelsea, who they face after the upcoming international break, and need to win all of their remaining games if they are to lift the trophy at the end of the campaign.

“I think [getting a good result before the international break] is big,” said manager Gareth Taylor. “Every game we approach, we've got ourselves into a fantastic position, we've worked tremendously hard to get here and there's more work to be done. We know that, we fight and continue in the vein that we are.

“We need to approach this game in the right manner, we will do, and hopefully, we will achieve our objective of going there, winning the game and then seeing in the international break before we restart again.”

The clash with Chelsea after the international break is one that could be title defining, but he has warned that City will need to be at their best on Sunday to make sure that they do not slip behind before then.

"Only if we go out and achieve what we need to on Sunday,” Taylor said when asked about the importance of the fixture against the London club.

"And that's obviously the same for Chelsea as well. We're not looking too far ahead, we've not done that all season, we're just concentrating on this game at Tottenham and making sure we achieve our objective."

Taylor will be without captain Steph Houghton and full back Demi Stokes, but Laura Coombs and Lauren Hemp are both likely to be available for selection.
