Gareth Southgate sent Kieran Tierney warning ahead of England vs Scotland

Former Arsenal and England midfielder Ray Parlour has warned the Three Lions over the danger Kieran Tierney poses ahead of Friday night.

England are preparing for their second game of Euro 2020 after defeating Croatia in their opener, and they go up against old foes Scotland at Wembley Stadium.

Gareth Southgate's men are undoubtedly favourites for the tie, but Scotland, who lost their first game, against the Czech Republic, will welcome back Arsenal star Tierney for this one.

Despite injury issues, the full-back has impressed for the Gunners this season and he is a key part of Steve Clarke's plans, so it was a real blow when he was ruled out of Scotland's opening game.

But he looks set to return ahead of Friday, and Parlour has warned of the danger he poses. telling Gambling.com: "Tierney coming back for them would be a massive boost. We know they’ve got other good players too – Robertson, McTominay, McGinn,” said Parlour.

“I think England’s midfield choice will be interesting again. If Gareth goes with Phillips, Rice and Mount again then you’ll have them three up against McGinn, McTominay and Armstrong, which sounds like a good battle.

“I think they’ll go with two up front again to try and put pressure on Stones and Mings if they start for England at the back.

“Scotland created a few chances against the Czechs, I don’t think they played too badly, but Steve Clarke won’t have to say too much to get them fired up for the England game on Friday."

Speaking about how the game might go, Parlour added: "If they can get a draw I think that’s a great result for Scotland but, who knows, if they can sneak a win they’ll suddenly find themselves in a great position.”

“When you look at it on paper, it’s not a bad Scotland team is it? And if they can get Tierney fit and in there then it’ll be even better.

“I think it’ll be an interesting game, but I can’t see loads of goals. Both teams will be set up to make themselves hard to beat, be compact and take any chances that come.

“If Scotland are to take a chance first, then we know they can defend, so that could make for an interesting game. But I’ve got to go with England, they’ve got a bit more quality in the frontline and I would probably expect a 1-0 or 2-0 win.”
