Gareth Southgate says England will risk relegation and 'do everything' to reach Nations League semi-final

Gareth Southgate says he is "not concerned" about the prospect of Uefa Nations League relegation, and insists his England side will throw caution to the wind in in order to top their group against Croatia on Sunday night.

England go into the Wembley showdown knowing that victory would see them win the group ahead of Croatia and Spain, and secure qualification for next summer's inaugural semi-final stage.

However, a Croatian win or a score draw would see England finish bottom of the group and be demoted to the second tier of the competition.

That could throw up a late stick or twist scenario, where a goal either way would be the difference between qualification and relegation, but Southgate insists his side will gamble.

"We want to win the game - it's as simple as that," Southgate said. "I'm not concerned with anything else.

"I don't see us, if it's 0-0 with five minutes to play, keeping the ball in the corner to try and stay in the group.

"We want to try and get to a semi-final and we've got to do everything we can to make that happen."
