Gareth Southgate has revealed how the Everton players in the England squad have reacted to the news of Carlo Ancelotti's departure to Real Madrid.
The Italian made a surprise Goodison exit on Tuesday, calling time on his 18-month tenure with the Blues to return to his former club in Spain.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Jordan Pickford and Ben Godfrey are all currently away with England ahead of Euro 2020, the former duo named in Southgate's 26-man squad for this summer's European Championships and the latter, who made his international debut in midweek against Austria, on standby.
While majority of the Everton squad are yet to comment publicly about Ancelotti 's shock exit, the Three Lions boss admitted he has spoken with the Blues trio and their were all shocked by their manager's sudden departure.
"I’ve had brief conversations (with them)," Southgate told reporters ahead of England's warm-up game with Romania. "I think they were surprised because I don’t think anyone foresaw that happening but players are very resilient.

"They understand that that is the environment they are in. Managers change constantly and they’ll be interested to follow and see who comes in.
"Of course they won’t know the full implications of that until decisions are made and they’re back with the clubs. But at the moment, they are totally focused on the situation with us and having a great summer."
