Gareth Southgate has hailed Jordan Pickford's "excellent" form and picked out on aspect of the goalkeepers game for particular praise.
The Everton star has been England's starting man throughout the European Championships so far, keeping three clean sheets and producing some fantastic saves in the process.
This is continuing the fantastic displays he was putting in for his club side towards the back end of the 2020/21 campaign, recovering from a rocky spell earlier in the year to show brilliant amounts of consistency at the back.
Southgate agrees that Pickford's performances for Everton in the latter stages of the term showed a certain amount of calmness.
The England boss also chose to highlight the goalkeeper's passing range for particular praise as he has been able to show off a varied array of techniques over the course of the group stage.
Southgate told The Times : "He's been excellent.
"The last couple of months of the season his performances have been very calm for his club. He’s been decisive at the right moments for us and has made good decisions with the ball at his feet.
"You’ve seen the range of passing he’s got. He’s dropped a few into the front players. He’s been able to play through the lines.
"He’s in a really good place and he’s given us a really solid start point for what has been strong defence from the whole team."
England found out on Wednesday night that they will face Germany at Wembley in the round of 16, with the game set to take place this coming Tuesday.
