England boss Gareth Southgate admits he will need to make a late decision over whether or not to include Chelsea duo Mason Mount and Ben Chilwell against Germany on Tuesday.
The Blues pair missed the Three Lions' 1-0 win against Czech Republic at Wembley on Wednesday, with both isolating after coming into contact with Billy Gilmour, who tested positive for coronavirus after Scotland's draw with England at Wembley earlier this month.
Following the game, Mount and Chilwell spoke with their Chelsea team-mate in the tunnel at Wembley, and although they both tested negative for COVID-19, they have been self-isolating in recent days, on the advice of Public Health England.
That means they have not been training with the team this week and have been following their own individual programmes, although they have not been ruled out of the last 16 clash with Germany on Tuesday.
However, Southgate has said that he will have to decide whether or not they are able to play in the game, with their isolation period set to end the night before the clash at Wembley.
Speaking to ITV Sport on Sunday, Southgate said: “Both of them have been doing training in small groups, away from the main group so they have been able to keep up their match fitness.
“In terms of team selection and involvement against Germany, their quarantine ends at midnight the day before the game.
“Their involvement in the game will not only be from a physical perspective, but a psychological one too as they have been in a room on their own for a long period of time.
"Therefore we have to consider this too before picking the squad ahead of the Germany game.”
