Those heading for a bit of Sunday night karaoke got more than they bargained for this weekend, when a certain Pop Idol runner-up made a surprise appearance.
Gareth Gates stopped in at The Horseshoe Bar, after performing at the Go Radio Christmas Sparkle Ladies launch earlier in the day. In a video posted to the karaoke bar's Facebook page the singer is seen performing his own hit Spirit in the Sky, before going on to have a go at Ed Sheeran’s Perfect.
Gareth told the crowd: “I hope you’ve had a great night, I’ll see you soon. Lots of love.”

Following the surprise act, the Horseshoe posted the video with the caption: “Karaoke off to a bang on this Sunday any guesses on the singer, popped in on his way by - must have heard only the best karaoke venue in the world.
“The one and only Gareth Gates. Amazing, PS - stay off the chairs ya animals.”
Fans were quick to comment on the post, with many regretting they missed out on Gareth. One tagged a friend, and said: “Wee Gareth Gates. That takes me back.
“Would’ve been great if Will Young turned up for a duet.”
Another added: “Can’t believe we missed him. Gareth, we love you.”
One Facebook user added: “Oh my god. My Childhood crush, amazing.”
