Gareth Gates sings heartbreak ballad in emotional Instagram video following Faye Brookes split - again

It seems Gareth Gates has been getting over his recent heartbreak by going back to his singing roots.

The former Pop Idol finalist split from Coronation Street actress Faye Brookes after seven years together and six months after their engagement.

Gareth, 35, took to Instagram on Sunday for the second time in a matter of weeks with an emotional video of him singing another 'heartbreak' ballad.

The singer, who shot to fame on Pop Idol in 2002, is seen with a guitarist belting out a rendition of Michael Bolton's eighties hit How Am I Supposed To Live Without You.

Captioning the video, Gareth simply used a broken heart emoji.

The video received mixed reviews from his 53,000 followers, particularly fans of Faye who believe the video alludes to his recent break-up.

One wrote: "She ain't coming back. Leave it alone."

Whilst others defended the star.

"People do realize songwriters express how they feel in songs, right? Don’t attack the man for singing how he feels," commented one.

Another added: "Leave the man alone.. It's maybe his way of coping. We are all different when it comes to relationship break ups."

A third offered: "As hard as it may be to accept, you have to let go, if it was meant to be, it would've worked out, you need to move on with your life."

"Absolutely beautiful @gareth_gates please hold your head high and stay strong. We all love you so much," said a third.

Another comment, also relating to the couple, read: "Lovely Gareth. So sorry about u your split, u two were made for each other x"

Faye, however, spent her weekend partying alongside her Corrie co-stars at Manchester Pride.

The 31-year-old showed off a striking new look, swapping her usual brunette hairstyle for purple tresses as she rode on the ITV float during the Pride Parade.

Gareth's latest crooning comes less than two weeks after he chose to express his feeling with his own rendition of Jason Mraz ballad I Won't Give Up.

He shared the video on Twitter, again just accompanied by a broken heart emoji, and one fan even pointed out, "This is a bit emotional isn't it?"

Gareth proposed to Flixton-born actress Faye at a friend's high-rise apartment in New York with a four-carat diamond ring and a 17-minute song that he had written for Faye performed on a grand piano at the start of the year.
