Gareth Gates admits he 'feels really old' with unrecognisable early career throwbacks

Gareth Gates admitted he feels "really old" as the Loose Women shared a 2003 throwback.

The 36-year-old rocketed to household name status in 2002 on Pop Idol, before continuing his success to forge a pop career.

In 2003, he released one of his biggest hits, Spirit In The Sky.

The Loose Women decided to air a clip from the track's music video, a beardless, spiky-haired Gareth belting out the lyrics.

And Gareth looked worlds away from his current self, now cutting a stylish and sophisticated figure with slicked back hair and neatly trimmed facial hair.

Gareth added to his look with a tight-fitting charcoal grey jumper that allowed to show off his gym-toned physique.

"Half feels like yesterday, half feels like a million years ago," observed Andrea McLean. "How does that feel for you Gareth?"

"You've actually made me feel really old," he laughed, "so really appreciate that, thank you!"

And the panel couldn't resist asking him about his famously gruelling workouts.

Gareth has displayed his chiselled abs and swollen muscles on his Instagram, Coleen Nolan asking: "Is it true you eat 4,000 calories a day to maintain those biceps?"

Gareth also shared his experiences with fame, reaching out to Jesy Nelson who yesterday announced she was leaving Little Mix to look after her mental health.

And today's show marked the penultimate episode for Andrea, who's Loose Women run is coming to an end after 13 years and more than 1,4000 shows.

Laughing with her colleagues and mates, Andrea told: "I'm cracking jokes because I'm trying not to think about leaving."

*Loose Women airs on weekdays at 12:30pm on ITV.
