Gareth Bale transfer: Man Utd make final decision on Real Madrid star

Manchester United have reportedly opted to end their interest in Gareth Bale ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Red Devils had been eyeing up a move to try and lure the Welshman back to the Premier League as he's linked with a Real Madrid exit.

But according to the Daily Star, Bale has priced himself out of a move by demanding wages of £450,000 per week.

Ed Woodward is also concerned that Bale's age - he turns 30 before the start of next season - means he would represent bad financial business.

United have now opted to end their interest and turn their attentions to other targets as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer aims to strengthen in the summer.

Bale could still be set to leave Real Madrid after the return of Zinedine Zidane.

The pair reportedly do not see eye to eye and after a miserable season in Spain he's set for crisis talks regarding his future between now and the end of the season.

United have twice tried to lure him to Old Trafford but this now looks highly unlikely meaning other top European clubs - particularly in the Premier League - could swoop.

Bale is expected to cost somewhere in the region of £80m in transfer fees if he does leave La Liga.

United, meanwhile, are looking to prioritise investment in young talent with Jadon Sancho, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Declan Rice all on their wishlist.

A new long-term deal for Marcus Rashford is also a priority as they plan further talks.
