Bookmakers have slashed the odds on Real Madrid star Gareth Bale securing a deadline day move to Tottenham.
Reports in the national media claim switch back to north London.
And bookmakers have cut odds from 11/2 to a best price of 13/8, while one firm has actually made the price odds-on (1/2), as Daniel Levy eyes a blockbuster move to finish the transfer window.
Despite helping fire Wales to Euro 2020, the 30-year-old has desperately struggled to deliver the goods at club level, with his frosty relationship with Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane no doubt complicating matters.
And it's added fuel to the possibility of an early exit from the Bernabeu.
Oddschecker spokesperson Callum Wilson said: “It's been rumoured for years, but is this finally the transfer window where Gareth Bale makes a triumphant return to Spurs?
“The Welshman's time at Real Madrid has been hugely successful - particularly in terms of trophies - with reports of unrest within the camp failing to dissipate, Bale may fancy a move back to London sooner rather than later.”
Bale still has two-and-a-half years left to run on his current deal with the Spanish club.
He has scored just three times in 15 appearances for the La Liga leaders so far this term.
