Gareth Bale to Newcastle United odds slashed as marquee signing once takeover is completed

Odds have tumbled on Gareth Bale returning to the Premier League this summer, with Newcastle United his most likely destination according to the bookies.

The Real Madrid star has been linked with a move to St James' Park as part of the current takeover.

It appears the Real Madrid star is seen as a potential marquee signing for Amanda Staveley and Co once the deal gets the green light from the Premier League.

The proposed takeover deal of the Magpies is now understood to be in the hands of the Premier League.

The club have maintained their "no comment" status on all enquiries, but the Chronicle understands that the group looking to broker a buy out of the club remain confident that the deal will be given the green light by the Premier League.

Bale came close to completing a move to Chinese Super League club Jiangsu Suning last summer, only for Real to pull the plug on the deal at the last minute.

And now it appears that he could once again be heading for the exit this summer, having fallen out of favour with Zinedine Zidane this season.

According to the latest odds from Betfair, Newcastle are now 4/1 to complete the signing of the Welshman this summer, with a move to any MLS Team priced at 6/1.

Manchester United have also been linked with Bale, and Solskjaer’s side are 7/1 to capture his signature this summer, while a return to Tottenham is 10/1.

"Reports this week have suggested Spanish giants, Real Madrid are set to offload Gareth Bale and are open to offers,” Betfair Spokesperson, Sam Rosbottom said.

“A return to the Premier League is looking most likely, with Newcastle the 4/1 favourites to sign the Welshman in what would be a marquee signing for the North-East team, once their long-awaited takeover goes through.”
