The club tipped to sign Gareth Bale amid Manchester United, Tottenham and Chelsea links

Manchester United are the current favourites to sign Gareth Bale from Real Madrid this summer.

Bale has been linked with a move to United since he was a Tottenham player, and the Red Devils are the 6/4 favourites with 888sport to land his signature in the coming months.

United’s odds have been cut after reports in Spain emerged that Bale could be allowed to leave Madrid this summer.

United’s rivals Manchester City also feature heavily in the betting at 2/1, with a sensational return to Spurs a 3/1 shot.

Fellow Premier League clubs Chelsea (5/1), Liverpool (7/1) and Arsenal (11/1) are also in the mix, though Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s United seem to have stolen a march on their domestic competition.

Bale has been at Real Madrid since 2013, when he joined for a then-world record €100m fee. Despite winning four Champions League trophies while at the club, Bale has never seemed fully at home in Spain, and has endured an up-and-down relationship with Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane.

With Real keen to offload his £350,000-a-week wages, Bale could be on his way out this summer – and United are primed to pounce.

An 888sport spokesman said: “News has emerged from Spain overnight that Real Madrid are set to get rid of Gareth Bale this summer – which means the move to Man United that has been rumoured for years could finally happen.

“United have been long-term admirers of Bale, even since the days of David Moyes, and we think this could be the time this move finally comes off for the Welshman.”
