An intriguing clause in Gareth Bale's contract at Tottenham has emerged after his arrival.
The Wales international was officially confirmed on Saturday after agreeing to a season-long loan from Real Madrid.
Bale had grown tired with Zinedine Zidane's treatment of him while the Frenchman was also done with his antics.
Spurs emerged as a potential destination in a deal that works for all parties.
Jose Mourinho was the man behind the move, pushing Daniel Levy into a transfer - while Real defender Sergio Reguilon has also joined in a seperate deal.
Bale returning to Tottenham after seven years has certainly got the fans excited.
But there could be cause for more glee with a clause meaning he could stay even longer than the one season.
According to Football London, Tottenham will have the option to extend the loan by another year.
However, that is only if the move is a success and all parties agree to it - with all keen on such a deal to go through.
If that does go through, Bale will come to the end of his contract at the Bernabeu and would most likely leave as a free agent.
It is then no toutside the realms of imagination that the forward pen a permanent deal in north London.
Spurs are also picking up less than his wages, with Real Madrid agreeing to pay 60 per cent of his huge wage packet, Football London further report.
His current wages are reportedly worth £600,000-a-week and had proved a sticking points for clubs trying to negotiate a deal with Real Madrid.
Tottenham had been in the race, as well as Manchester United.
But Spurs have finally landed their man after Bale reached breaking point with Zidane and the Real fans.
"It's nice to be back. It's such a special club to me. It's where I made my name," said Bale.
"Hopefully, now I can get some match fitness, get under way and really help the team and, hopefully, win trophies."
However, the Welshman will not make his debut until next month at the earliest with an injury ruling him out for four weeks.
