Gareth Bale's move from Real Madrid to China definitely off as CSL transfer window closes

Gareth Bale will definitely not be moving from Real Madrid to China after the CSL transfer window closed on Wednesday.

The Welsh winger stayed behind in Madrid instead of travelling with Real to Munich for the Audi Cup after his proposed move to Jiangsu Suning fell through at the weekend.

Jiangsu then moved to sign Croatian striker Ivan Santini and filled all of their four allocated slots for foreign players.

And any hope that a transfer could be resurrected at the last minute evaporated on Wednesday as the CSL transfer window closed at midnight in China (18:00 CET).

At that exact time, Real Madrid were kicking off in Munich against Fenerbahce in the third and fourth-placed play-off at the Audi Cup, a day after losing 1-0 in the semi-finals against Tottenham.

Bale, said to be distressed as his move to China fell through, stayed behind in Madrid, but was pictured by El Confidencial playing golf in the Spanish capital on Monday.

In Monday's post-match press conference, Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane had chosen his words carefully, saying Bale did not travel because he had not been feeling well.
