Gareth Bale's high-road parting gesture to Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane as imminent Tottenham signing captured on camera exiting Bernabeu

Gareth Bale has bid farewell to Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane and his teammates as he edges closer to a sensational return to Tottenham Hotspur, according to reports.

Bale is believed to have already completed part of his medical in Madrid ahead of a season-long loan to North London, and is expected to fly to the UK on Friday to finalise the deal.

Spanish outlet Deportes Cuatro say they have captured the last images of Bale as a Real Madrid player - for now, at least - snapping the Welshman as he was leaving the club's training ground on Thursday.

The TV station claims Bale was there to bid farewell to his team-mates - and boss Zidane.

Relations between the pair seemingly broke down beyond repair towards the end of last season, with Bale playing just 100 minutes of action under the Frenchman after the resumption of the season.

However, it's claimed Bale was keen to say goodbye to Zidane personally, and is believed to have wished the Frenchman well ahead of the new season.

Bale is also believed to hold no bitterness to Zidane, and is thought still to be a popular figure in the dressing room.

But he is now poised to call time on a largely successful seven-year stint in Spain - for the time being at least.

Since joining Madrid for £85m in 2013, Bale helped the club win four Champions League trophies and two La Liga titles.

The 31-year old has already spoken with Spurs boss Jose Mourinho, who recently confirmed he tried to sign Bale when he was in charge at the Bernabeu.

The player's agent, Jonathan Barnett, said on Wednesday: "Gareth has spoken to Jose and explained how Spurs have a special place in his heart."
