Gareth Bale's first words after rejoining Tottenham from Real Madrid

Gareth Bale is back at Tottenham and he's back to win trophies.

The Welshman has returned to the club where he made his name, seven years after leaving to be the then most expensive player in the world.

Things have not gone the way he would have wanted for him at Real Madrid in the last few seasons and he has rejoined Spurs on a season-long loan deal, with the option to turn that into a second year.

Bale is not the only arrival at N17 from Madrid, with the 31-year-old being joined by left-back Sergio Reguilon, who has penned a five-year deal at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

All eyes and focus are on Bale though.

Gareth Bale's brilliant welcome to Tottenham

And upon rejoining the club, he made it clear why he was back and it will be music to Tottenham fans' ears.

Speaking to the club in his first interview back in England, he said: "It's nice to be back, it's such a special club to me, where I made my name, what an amazing club, amazing fans, it's incredible to be back, and hopefully I can get some match fitness, get back under way and really help the team and hopefully win trophies.

"I think it's such a special club, I always thought when I did leave one day I would love to come back and the opportunity has arisen, it's a good time for me, I'm hungry, motivated and can't wait to get started.

"I think by going to Madrid, winning trophies, I feel like I have that winning mentality, how to win trophies, in those situations in finals, dealing with nerves, pressure, that all goes with experience, hopefully I can bring that to the dressing room and bring a bit more belief to everybody that we can win a trophy and the target is to do that, not just one, but on all fronts.

"Winning trophies is such an important thing for this club, it's what we all want to do and to be doing it at Tottenham now would be a dream come true."
