Gareth Bale's agent slams 'disgusting' Real Madrid fans and offers update on his future

Gareth Bale’s agent has slammed Real Madrid fans for the way the Wales star has been treated by them since joining in 2013.

Jonathan Barnett spoke to reporters at Madrid airport when he gave his opinion on Bale’s treatment by the Los Blancos supporters.

He revealed that he doesn't care how Bale is viewed by the club's fanbase and criticised the way they have acted towards the Cardiff-born star in recent times.

Bale was recently abused by so-called fans whilst leaving Real’s Valdebebas training ground where he was hounded and even had a pen thrown at his car.

Speaking to Spanish outlet El Chiringuito, Barnett stated: “I don’t, why should I care?” after being asked if he considers the opinion of the Real Madrid supporters.

“I think they’ve been disgusting to Gareth Bale."

Bale is back in the Spanish capital after returning from his loan spell at Tottenham and his future has been up for debate for quite some time.

Bale spent the majority of his stint on the bench at Spurs but still managed to grab 11 Premier League goals, a decent return after playing just 20 league games.

He has made just three appearances in a white shirt this season due to injury, with all three coming in the opening three games of La Liga action.

Barnett was quizzed on speculation regarding Bale’s future but he remained tight lipped on the matter.

“We have to sit and see (if he’ll stay for next season)," Barnett said.

“He lives here and his family are here. He loves Madrid.”

Injuries have meant that Bale has been sidelined regularly during his time in Madrid and Barnett couldn’t understand the complaints made by Madrid supporters over their man being out of action again.

“It’s unfortunate, but he had to play for Wales as it was very important for the World Cup,” the agent added.

“It’s an injury that could happen to anybody, but unfortunately it happened to him”.
