Gareth Bale's agent rules out transfer from Real Madrid

Gareth Bale's agent has ruled out a January move for the Real Madrid star.

Bale looked set to leave the Bernabeu last summer before a move to China collapsed, and reports in Spain have linked the Wales international with MLS clubs during the current window.

But Bale's representative Jonathan Barnett has told ESPN the player is "going nowhere", adding that even a move away in the summer is "very unlikely".

The former Tottenham man is contracted to Real Madrid until 2022 and his wages have left him short of realistic options.

Zinedine Zidane said last summer he hoped to sell Bale, and the player has been limited to just 9 La Liga starts this term.

He was whistled by home fans after holding up a controversial message after Wales qualified for Euro 2020. The Wales flag, which read "Wales. Golf. Madrid. In that order", left supporters questioning his commitment to the club.

Bale was ruled out of Wednesday's win over Valencia with a respiratory infection.

The winger's absence is considered to be only precautionary and he could still fly out and link up with his team-mates for the final at the weekend.
