Gareth Bale's agent has claimed the Welsh international never wanted to leave Real Madrid.
The Spanish giants have looked to move on the former Tottenham winger several times during his spell at the Bernabeu, a time plagued by injuries but also gilded by trophies.
Bale has won several Champions League titles, a league title and the Copa del Rey among other silverware, though he still is not fluent in Spanish and recently was one of just a few players to skip a team bonding meal.
Nonetheless, Jonathan Barnett has insisted that Bale never had any intention of leaving the Bernabeu.
“Gareth never wanted to leave Real Madrid,’ he told fansite Madridista Real. “Bale has always felt an important part of this team... Bale is very happy at Real Madrid and Real Madrid is very happy with Bale.
“The truth is we are already tired of these stupid lie stories.”
The 29-year-old returned from injury to score against Espanyol earlier this week.
Bale found the net just three minutes after coming on as a substitute to help Madrid to a 4-2 win though the Spanish giants remain some ten points adrift of leaders Barcelona in La Liga.
