Gareth Bale's agent delivers verdict on his Real Madrid future amid Tottenham transfer links

Gareth Bale's agent insists that the Welshman can "pick and choose" where he wants to play his football, after confirming that there was no offer from Tottenham to sign him in January.

Spurs were heavily linked with a move to try and bring the Welshman back to north London, six-and-a-half-years after selling him to Real Madrid.

Manchester United have also been linked with a move to sign the 30-year-old, amid reports that he could leave Madrid for a return to England, while he has also been previously linked with a lucrative move to China.

But Jonathan Barnett has insisted that Bale is happy in Real Madrid and that he has no plans to return to the Premier League at the moment.

Tottenham transfer window verdict

"Gareth still believes there is a future there at Real Madrid," Barnett said, speaking on Talksport.

"He has two and a half more years there, his family is settled and he has a lovely lifestyle.

"He can pick and choose where he wants to play."

Barnett was then asked whether Spurs had made an offer in January and whether or not he could see Bale returning to Spurs, to which he responded "no" to both questions.

He added: He [Daniel Levy] may have [gone to Spain], but Gareth is very happy there. Let’s be realistic, for most cubs, he is out of their league, financially that is.

"It is very easy to say go and play somewhere else. His lifestyle and life is there, his family and children are settled.

The people who know what is going on is [Real Madrid boss Zinedine] Zidane, Gareth [Bale] and the Real Madrid president [Florentino Perez], and that is all that matters. He is still a very important part of Real Madrid. They are all happy with the situation.
