Gareth Bale's agent brands Zinedine Zidane "a disgrace" for comments on future

Gareth Bale's agent Jonathan Barnett has called Zinedine Zidane "a disgrace" for comments he made about the Welshman's future.

Real Madrid boss Zidane left Bale out of the squad for Saturday's friendly against Bayern Munich in Houston, Texas, and later said that he hoped the former Tottenham man would leave the club soon.

"Bale has been left out because Madrid are trying to get out," Zidane told reporters after Real's 3-1 defeat.

"If you can go tomorrow, better.

"We hope he leaves soon. It would be best for everyone. We are working on his transfer to a new team."

Bale - who joined Real in 2013 - is still under contract at the club until 2022, and Barnett has previously claimed that he is in no rush to leave Madrid.

Addressing Zidane's comments directly, the agent told ESPN FC : "Zidane is a disgrace to speak like that about someone who has done so much for Real.

"If and when Gareth goes it will be because it is in the best interest of Gareth and nothing to do with Zidane pushing."

The Welshman has been linked with Saturday's opponents Bayern among others, and the German club's midfielder Thiago Alcantara claimed that the forward would be welcomed in Bavaria after the game.

“It’s very simple, for me, any top player who wants to come and play at a top club like Bayern Munich, who wants to contribute, they are welcome here," he told reporters.

“We will have the door open to you.

“(Arjen) Robben, (Franck) Ribery and Bale play in similar positions on the field and we lost Robben and Ribery in our midfield, two historic members of this club.

“If Gareth wants to come, any top player who wants to come here is welcome.”
