Gareth Bale responds to Marine fan after Tottenham's FA Cup clash

Four-time Champions League winner Gareth Bale did not envisage himself playing at Marine AFC's Rossett Park when looked to move back to England this summer.

The Tottenham Hotspur loanee was brought on during the second half of his side's FA Cup third-round tie, perhaps a gift from Jose Mourinho to the club's supporters and players for their kind hospitality.

It is not every week that Marine's players get to go shoulder to shoulder with a giant of world football and it is not every day that their fans get to see the likes of Bale take to their field.

But the FA Cup breeds days like no other and for the lucky few Marine fans whose garden backs onto Rossett Park's touchline, they were able to watch Bale playing football just the other side of their fence.

One local shared an image of his view on social media with the £85m man stood just outside his window.

The Everton supporter, Christopher, tweeted: "Watching Gareth Bale whilst leaning out my window. Unreal.

He added: "Shout out to Jay Devine, number 20 for Marine, put in a shift."

Christopher has since appeared on BBC Radio One and been given a mention in local newspaper, Liverpool Echo.

But, best of all, he landed a response from Bale himself who send him a cheeky wave emoji on social media.

The outing was Bale's 12 in a Spurs shirt this season and his first since December's EFL Cup clash with Stoke City.

Since returning to North London, the forward has scored three goals, coming against Brighton, LASK and Stoke.

His minutes at Marine have now put him in contention to feature for Spurs in tomorrow's clash with Fulham.
