Gareth Bale ready to talk to Man Utd over sensational return to Premier League

Gareth Bale is willing to talk to Manchester United over a move but is unsure if they can afford him.

Real Madrid are trying to offload Wales' record scorer Bale this summer as he earns over £600,000-a-week.

Bernabeu boss Zinedine Zidane wants Bale ,31, gone after failing to pick him in their final eight games last term.

United are interested as they struggle to sign their first-choice target Jadon Sancho, who Borussia Dortmund value at £108m.

Bale admitted earlier this month he is ready to consider his options this summer with two years left on his contract.

But the star has told pals he is unsure if United have the cash to take him on either on loan or permanently.

The Old Trafford club's finances have been rocked by the coronavirus and their transfer budget is still to be finalised.

They have so far only signed Donny van de Beek for £40m from Ajax.

Bale was close to leaving was a year ago when Chinese Super League club Jiangsu Suning wanted him.

They were willing to pay Bale an incredible £1m-a-week to take him on a free transfer.

Now with the changing financial outlook globally following COVID-19, Bale will not be able to get a better deal than his current terms anywhere.

It means he could yet end up staying in Spain where his family are settled and he is happy off the pitch.

Madrid are due to start their title defence on Sunday at Real Sociedad but Bale is unlikely to be involved.

His future remains in doubt with the transfer window shutting on October 5 in England and Spain.

Bale has recently been rehabilitating a knee injury at Real.

He returned from international duty with Wales with a minor knock after starting both victories over Finland and Bulgaria.
