Gareth Bale 'has dreams' of Man Utd transfer as Real Madrid future remains in limbo

Spanish publication Marca claim that Real Madrid outcast Gareth Bale "has dreams" to play for Manchester United as his future continues to play out in the media.

Reports of a transfer to China surfaced on Friday in a deal that would have seen the Wales star earn up to £1million a week in the Far East.

But that move hit the buffers on Sunday, with Real pulling the plug over the fact Jiangsu Suning were unwilling to pay a transfer fee for the 30-year-old. The Chinese outfit have now signed Croatian Ivan Santini, ending links with Bale.

Tensions between Bale and manager Zinedine Zidane have reached crisis point at the Bernabeu, with Bale's agent revealing that the two individuals have never had a relationship to speak of.

Jonathan Barnett told Journal du Dimanche (via the Mirror): "It's simple, Zidane doesn't like Gareth.

"There's no relationship between them. There never has been."

Barnett recently labelled Zidane "a disgrace" after comments from the manager in a press conference, at which he said Bale's exit would be "best for everyone".

Zidane has continued to use Bale off the bench in pre-season, with Madrid enduring a poor run of results, including an 7-3 defeat to Atletico Madrid.

And with his transfer to the Chinese Super League side now in tatters, Marca have revealed what they believe to be Bale's true wishes.

Marca state : "His own dream remains to be Manchester United, with whom Madrid will speak in the coming days about the signing of Paul Pogba."

Bale has been linked with Premier League sides United and Tottenham over the course of the summer, but with his wages set at around £600,000 a week in the Spanish capital, a move to Old Trafford would seem unlikely.

But that could change if the former Southampton man drops his financial demands and Real step up their interest in Pogba, who himself has been the subject of intense transfer speculation.
