Good morning, Tottenham fans. Here is your morning digest for Thursday, October 29.
Gareth Bale latest ahead of Royal Antwerp test
Tottenham assistant Joao Sacramento has confirmed that Gareth Bale will start in tonight’s Europa League match against Royal Antwerp.
The Wales international was an unused substitute in Monday evening’s 1-0 victory over Burnley, having featured in the opening hour of the 3-0 win over LASK last Thursday.
It appears as though the club are using the Europa League to get the 31-year-old back to full fitness, having taken time to shake off an injury complaint after arriving back in north London on a season-long loan from Real Madrid.
“Gareth Bale will start,” the coach told Tottenham’s official website .
“Gareth is improving a lot – in terms of fitness level, his condition is much, much better, he’s feeling better every day and with the interaction that we have with him, he’s feeling very positive and we believe that soon he will be at his top level again.”
Son Heung-min makes important decision amid contract talks
With contract renewal talks said to be going on in the background at Tottenham, Son Heung-min has made a decision to change agents.
The forward, who is currently the Premier League’s top scorer after notching his eighth goal of the campaign with the match-winner against Burnley on Monday, has signed up with Hollywood talent group CAA.
In a new report from the Associated Press , it’s said that Son will be represented by the firm’s sports division CAA Base.
It’s an interesting and significant development with the club reportedly keen to tie him down to a new deal. His current contracts runs to 2023.
Here’s the latest on that front.
Alderweireld’s father hints at next career move
Spurs centre-half Toby Alderweireld could wind down his career in his home city of Antwerp, according to his father.
The 31-year-old, who has over 100 caps for Belgium, came up through Ajax’s academy before making his senior debut in the Eredivisie.
He’s made over 200 appearances for Spurs since signing from Atletico Madrid in 2015.
“The house will be ready in the course of 2023, in line with his contract with Tottenham,” Alderweireld’s father told Gazet van Antwerpen ( via HITC ).
“We’ll see where Toby will play football, at Tottenham, Ajax, an Antwerp club or elsewhere. But the chance that he will play closer to home at the age of 34 is real.”
