Gareth Bale could make shock decision as Mauricio Pochettino has already issued Tottenham verdict

Here is your Tottenham Hotspur morning digest on Wednesday, May 26.

Pochettino's Spurs verdict

Mauricio Pochettino has been linked with a sensational return to Tottenham.

According to SunSport, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is considering trying to bring the Argentine back to N17 despite just six months as boss of Paris Saint-Germain.

Pochettino was sacked as Tottenham manager in the latter stages of 2019 - but left the club with glowing memories.

"It was an amazing journey that finished the way no one wanted it to finish," Pochettino told BT Sport in April 2020. "But deep in my heart, I am sure our paths will cross again.

"From the day I left the club, my dream is to be back one day and to try to finish the work we didn't finish.

"We were so closing to winning the Premier League and Champions League."

Levy given what he wants over Kane transfer

Gareth Southgate has said that he does not expect any transfer activity during the European Championship, which means that Harry Kane's proposed move away from Tottenham does not look likely for a large chunk of the summer.

Kane has stressed his desire to win silverware and does not feel Spurs are currently equipped to compete for top honours.

Southgate said this after naming the Spurs striker in his provisional 33-man squad: “What’s going on at his club is a matter for him and Tottenham.

"He’s obviously made some statements in the last few days. In many respects that’s out of the way now and I think - talking across the board here - it’s very unlikely that transfers will be done while we’re away."

Bale could make shock decision

According to Spanish outlet ABC, Gareth Bale is considering making a deal with Real Madrid that would see his contract mutually terminated this summer.

Bale has been on loan at Tottenham from Real Madrid during the 2020/21 season, but his future remains uncertain ahead of the European Championships, as reported by Wales Online.

The report from Spain also adds that the Wales international could quit football altogether after this summer's European Championships, and dedicate more time to golf, another sport he has a passion for.

Bale scored twice on the final day of the Premier League season as Spurs beat Leicester City 4-2 at the King Power Stadium to secure seventh place and a spot in the UEFA Europa Conference League next season.

After the game, he was candid over his future plans as he spoke to Sky Sports

"It'll just have to be... it will have to happen after the Euros," he said.

"I know what I'm doing, but it'll just cause chaos if I say anything.

"All I'm thinking about now is finishing this season off strong and we meet up straight away for the Euros," he added.

"I'm not thinking about anything else other than Wales."
