Gareth Bale has revealed that Son Heung-min is the fourth member of his 'Welsh Mafia' crew at Tottenham Hotspur, along with Ben Davies and Joe Rodon.
Bale has scored six goals in his last six as well as chipping in with three assists across that spell and looks to have returned to his best. The Welshman has celebrated his recent flurry of goals with a new celebration, a 'WM' sign with his hands to indicate 'Walsh Mafia.'
Many of Bale's teammates have joined him with his new celebration including Lucas Moura and Son, however, Bale has admitted it is the South Korean not the Brazilian he considers part of his 'Welsh Mafia.'
South Korean Son is well known for his elaborate hand-shakes and goal celebrations with his teammates and it seems he has become an honorary Welshman according to Bale:
"He’s basically Welsh to us. We’re a bit disappointed because all the pictures have us three and Lucas – but really Sonny should be the fourth man,” Bale told Tottenham’s official Twitch Channel.
The three proud Welshman are all expected to be representing their country in this summer's delayed European Championship's but there are some things Bale and Rodon will never agree on such as who is the biggest club in Wales:
"Cardiff’s a bigger club, I said, because they’ve won the FA Cup," said Bale.
“He [Joe] obviously disagrees because he’s a Swan, but then he’ll go to me ‘you’ve never played for Cardiff’.”
Roden retorted: "They can’t claim you. Cardiff cannot claim him.”
To which Bale responded with: "Of course I’m from Cardiff, and I support Cardiff, but I’m a Welshman.
“I try to unite both if it’s even possible. He [Joe] just doesn’t want the Wales fans to boo him!”
Bale also opened up about how the 'Welsh Mafia' came about: "“We knew the other Mafia was Moussa, Serge and Tanguy – La Mafia.
“So we decided to create a Welsh Mafia, but the original Welsh Mafia had four of us because Sonny is in it."
