Gareth Bale will not come up against former club Spurs on Tuesday after pulling out of Real Madrid's squad for the Audi Cup game in Munich.
The Welshman has fallen out of favour at the Santiago Bernabeu under Zinedine Zidane and an exit from the Spanish capital looks set to happen in the coming weeks after six years at the club.
Bale has been linked with a sensational return to Spurs but it appeared that he would be on the move to Chinese side Jiangsu Suning before the transfer deadline in China.
However, Los Blancos pulled the plug on the deal at the last minute despite the player agreeing on terms to move to China.
The collapse of the move has now left the 30-year-old, who is said to be furious over the way he has been treated by Zidane and president Florentino Perez, in limbo and it is believed that he's not in the right mental state to take part in the Audi Cup.
Spurs are first up for Real Madrid in Munich on Tuesday, with their second game coming 24 hours later against either Bayern Munich or Fenerbahce.
While there will be no Bale for the game at the Allianz Arena, manager Zidane will also have to do without a number Real's other experienced players.
Los Blancos trained at their Valdebebas base on Monday morning and Casemiro, Eder Militao and James Rodriguez were back alongside their teammates following their participation in the Copa America.
Despite rejoining the rest of the squad following their exploits in the recent tournament in Brazil, the trio have not been included for both Audi Cup games.
There is also no place in the 24-man squad for new signing Luka Jovic after he was substituted in the crushing 7-3 defeat against Atletico Madrid last week after colliding with goalkeeper Jan Oblak.
Thibaut Courtois, Marco Asensio and new signing Ferland Mendy are also absent from Zidane's squad.
