Wales star Gareth Anscombe has posted an emotional message on social media after his World Cup dream was shattered by injury.
The fly-half limped off after 34 minutes of Wales' 33-19 defeat to England at Twickenham.
A scan on Monday morning revealed he had suffered damage to his anterior cruciate ligament - ruling him out of the tournament in Japan.
"Not quite the way I was hoping my World Cup dream would finish," he wrote on Instagram.
"Been a pretty tough 24 hours to take but I’m very thankful and humbled for all the kind well wishes.
"Still wrapping my head around what’s happened and what’s next but I’m excited to watch this @welshrugbyunion team go on and do something special. #cmoncymru"
It's currently unclear how long Anscombe is expected to be sidelined for.
The playmaker was set to head to Japan as Wales' first-choice 10 - having made the jersey his own in the past year.
Dan Biggar will now be Wales' first choice fly-half heading into the tournament and it leaves Warren Gatland with a decision to make with three warm-up games remaining.
Fly-halves Rhys Patchell and Jarrod Evans are also in the squad and at least one of them is now set to travel to Japan after Anscombe's injury.
