Gareth Ainsworth on 'super' Swansea City duo as Wycombe boss lauds Steve Cooper's 'problem solvers'

Wycombe Wanderers boss Gareth Ainsworth says his side gave Swansea City too much respect in their 2-0 defeat to Steve Cooper's men.

The Swans ran riot in the opening half at Adams Park and raced into a two-goal lead thanks to strikes from Andre Ayew and Jamal Lowe.

The Chairboys improved in the second half, although their lack of quality ensured Swansea left Buckinghamshire with all three points.

And Ainsworth described goal scorer Ayew and man-of-the-match Morgan-Gibbs-White as "super players" following Wycombe's defeat to the Swans.

"Andre Ayew and Morgan Gibbs-White are super players, but we gave them too much time and too much respect. We let them play their game a little bit too much in the first half, and that killed us," he said.

"We can pick the bones out of the goals and it's mistakes, you've got to eradicate mistakes because they're going to get punished at this level.

"I just wanted the boys to get in at half time because we could see the problems from the side.

"You work on something all week and you come up with all these problems that Swansea might pose you, and then they pose you a different problem because they're good players and they're problem solvers.

"They'll find spaces that maybe you haven't worked on, and that's what good teams do. They'll try and find those little pockets.

"Once we started getting in their faces, I thought we played a lot better, and the goal is going to come. It's a bit frustrating at the moment."

Swansea's victory means they have seven points from their opening three fixtures of the 2020/21 Championship campaign.

Cooper's men return to action against Millwall at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday.
