Gardner Minshew wins his third Pepsi Rookie of the Week award

Jacksonville Jaguars rookie quarterback Gardner Minshew II just keeps adding hardware to his award cabinet.

After winning the Rookie of the Month award earlier this week, he won his third Pepsi Rookie of the Week award Friday, bringing his award total to four just one quarter into the regular season.

Minshew’s award comes after the rookie brought the Jags back from two second half deficits at Empower Field at Mile High against the Denver Broncos. Alongside running back Leonard Fournette and kicker Josh Lambo, Minshew was able to help the Jags put up 20 points in the second half. He ultimately finished the game 19-of-33 for 213 yards and two touchdowns.

Minshew could potentially add another Rookie of the Week award to his household with another solid performance against the Carolina Panthers this Sunday. They currently have the league’s top passing defense and could be his biggest challenge yet in what has been a crazy 2019 season.
