Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Gardner Minshew II won his sixth Pepsi Rookie of the Week award Friday. His nomination came after one of his best performances of the year, as he shredded the New York Jets’ defense last week going 22-of-34 for 279 passing yards, three touchdowns (a career-high) and a 119.6 quarterback rating.
Minshew has definitely exceeded the expectations of fans since taking over for injured veteran Nick Foles, who broke his collarbone Week 1. Since, he’s gone 4-3 as a starter and has the Jags at a .500 record currently.
With the Houston Texans set to take on the Jags in London, the team will need more “Minshew Magic” to climb to the No. 2 spot of the AFC South. It will mark his first game across the pond, but I think it’s safe to say the fans over in the United Kingdom will be very receptive of him.
