Gardai warn people to ignore scam email about fake jury duty summons

Irish people are being warned to ignore a fake jury duty email doing the rounds.

Gardai have said the email is a scam and advised the public not to click on the link provided.

The bogus jury summons comes from the sender "County Service" with an address of invitation@courts.ie.

Gardai have reminded the public that jurors only receive an actual summons by post.

A garda spokesman said: "Gardai have been alerted to a scam where fraudulent jury service notices are sent by email with a request to click on a link.

"This is a scam. Do not click on links.

"Genuine jury summons issue via An Post, while other official docs issue by registered post/summons/warrant."
