Gardai treating death of man in Ballymun as 'personal tragedy'

Gardai investigating the discovery of a man's body in Ballymun are treating it as a personal tragedy.

Swarms of officers flooded the scene on Balbutcher lane this morning after the body was found in a container in the 'Hill' area near the school.

The man had suffered injuries before his death and all possibilities were being explored in the early stage of the investigation.

Dublin Live understands that the man died of a suspected drug overdose.

A garda spokesperson released a statement on Monday evening confirming they're no longer exploring the possibility of foul play.

They said: "Gardaí are investigating all the circumstances surrounding the discovery of a body of a man in his 40s in the vicinity of Balbutcher Lane, Ballymun.

"The discovery was made at approximately 10:50am this morning (25/11/19).

"He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body has since been removed to the Dublin City Morgue where a post-mortem examination will be carried out tomorrow (26/11/2019).

"Pending the outcome of the post-mortem, An Garda Síochána are treating this case as a personal tragedy at this time."
