Gardai swarm Dublin premises arresting three over murder of teenager

Gardai investigating the murder of a teenager have arrested three men following searches this morning.

The teen, who was killed in January 2020, cannot be named due to a Court of Appeal judgement which prevents the media from identifying a deceased child victim of crime.

Searches were carried out on Monday morning by the Mountjoy Detective Unit at a number of premises in Dublin.

The three arrested men, aged in their 20s, 40s and 50s, are currently being questioned at Garda stations around the capital.

Officers confirmed last month that skeletal remains found were officially identified as those of the teen victim.

They were discovered in a deep ravine near Drogheda, Co Louth on March 11.

Gardai began searching the wasteland last month following a crucial tip-off from a man who came forward.

Officers were told to search around the specific area after the tip-off and the following day, the remains were located in a shallow grave.

More than 40 gardai, including members of the Garda Technical Bureau, were involved in the massive search.

Authorities suspect at least eight people were involved in the teen’s murder.
