One man has been arrested after Gardai swarmed a house in Dublin on Wednesday as part of an investigation into an attack on an elderly lady.
Meath officers were alerted to a "distraction theft" incident in the Trim area on Tuesday where an elderly lady was the victim of the cruel attack.
Investigating Gardai obtained a warrant to search a house in the Dublin region on Wednesday morning in connection with the Market Street scam.
During this hunt, one man in his early 20s was arrested and quizzed by officers for several hours.
He was subsequently charged in relation to the distraction theft and was also charged with several other offences.
He is currently in Garda custody and is due before Trim District Court.
A Garda spokesman thanked the local community in both Meath and Dublin for their support and cooperation.
He said: "Gardai in trim investigated an incident where an elderly lady was the victim of a distraction theft that occurred at the ATM on Market Street on the 26th.
"Investigating Gardai searched a house under warrant in the Dublin region this morning, as a result a male in his 20s has been charged with a number of offences including the distraction theft on Market St.
"He remains in custody and is due before Trim District court.
"Trim Gardai would like to express their gratitude to Trim community for their support and assistance."
