Gardai swarm Dublin flats as local 'gang member' leaves woman seriously injured after aggravated burglary

A well-known local 'gang member' is said to be behind a brutal burglary at a set of Dublin flats last night which saw one woman rushed to hospital.

Gardai were out in force after the alarm was raised about the aggravated attack at the Oliver Bond Flats just after 10pm last night.

One woman was rushed to hospital following the incident with what is understood to be serious injuries.

A scared resident described the incident as frightening saying that the place was left destroyed in its aftermath.

They told Dublin Live: "The person's flat and windows were smashed.

"The police were out in force since the incident which was another very serious attack in a long line of disgraceful anti social behaviour in the area.

"Residents once again kept awake and scared all night."

A source told Dublin Live that the person behind the attack is a well-known gang member, part of one of the many groups involved in anti-social behaviour in the area.

They said: "A very serious incident took place last night in the Oliver Bond Flats.

"The woman was attacked by a gang member. She tried to hide from the attacker but was found and received a few blows during the assault.

"There is a very real threat of further attacks in certain blocks in the complex."

A Garda spokeswoman told Dublin Live that investigations are now ongoing into the incident.

She said: "Gardaí are investigating an alleged aggravated burglary incident that occurred at a residence in Dublin 8 on Thursday, 28th January at approximately 10pm.

"A woman was taken to St James’ Hospital; the nature of any injuries sustained are not clear at this time."

She added: "No further information is available and enquiries are ongoing at this time."
