Gardai swarm Dublin area issuing arrest warrant for man, 55, over child and adult trafficking conviction

Gardai have swarmed a north Dublin area issuing an arrest warrant to a man convicted of trafficking children and adults.

The 55-year-old man was arrested at a location in north Dublin on foot of the European Arrest Warrant.

Officers attached to the Garda Extradition Unit and Garda National Bureau of Criminal Investigation confirmed that the man who authorities had been chasing for four years had finally been caught.

The warrant was issued in 2016 by Romanian authorities following the arrested man's conviction for offences of Human Trafficking.

Detective Superintendent Michael J. Mullen of the Garda Extradition Unit said that this was a "significant arrest coordinated by detectives attached to Organised and Serious Crime".

He added: "It represents our ongoing commitment to ensuring persons wanted on foot of International arrest warrants are brought to justice."

The arrested man has since been charged and will appear before the Extradition High Court.
