Gardai surge Dublin city area after man assaults guards in well-known business robbery

One man has been arrested following the theft of a business premises on Moore Street in Dublin yesterday.

On Wednesday morning, one man bust into a shop in the area leaving with a number of items which he did not pay for.

The man threatened and subsequently assaulted the security guards who tried to stop him during the theft.

No one was injured during the incident but the man was arrested a time later and taken to Store Street Garda Station where he was quizzed for hours by officers.

A Garda spokesman has since confirmed that the man has been charged in relation to the offence.

He said: " The man was arrested by Gardaí and taken to Store Street Garda Station where he was detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984."

He added: "He has since been charged in relation to the offence and is due to appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice."
