Gardai were kept busy this week as they made a number of road traffic related arrests.
Officers observed one driver as they ran a red light. After being stopped, the vehicle was found to have no tax for the past six months.
And members of the force also found a small quantity of heroin and cannabis on the motorist and, after a roadside drug test, they tested positive for both cannabis and opiates.
The driver was arrested, and the vehicle was seized.
Naas Roads Policing also made a number of arrests this week.
Gardai were on patrol when they encountered a vehicle being driven “erratically.”
After being stopped, the driver failed a roadside drugs test for cannabis and cocaine.

The driver was arrested with a court appearance to follow.
Gardai have warned people never to drink or drug drive, or they will face a series of possible penalties.

- a minimum 1-year driving disqualification if you are found to be above the legal threshold for cocaine, cannabis or heroin (since April 2017)
- a minimum of 4 years driving disqualification if you are found to have drugs in your body and are impaired to such an extent that you do not have proper control of a vehicle
- up to €5,000 fine
