A garda spokesman said: "Early this morning, Gardaì in Thurles arrested a driver after finding his lunchbox contained a different type of salad.

"Driver also failed a roadside drug test for cannabis and was arrested.

"Driving whilst under the influence puts lives at risk."

It comes after a separate incident in the county where gardai nabbed a driver who allegedly tested positive for drugs and had an "offensive weapon" and "suspected heroin" in their car.

Officers on patrol in Co Tipperary stopped the motorist two weeks ago.

The driver allegedly tested positive for cocaine and opiates and allegedly had "suspected heroin" and an "offensive weapon" in the vehicle.

Gardai revealed that driver was also arrested and will appear in court.
