Gardai slam motorist for parking spot near school as they dish out fine

Gardaí have hit out after a motorist decided to park across a pedestrian crossing, mere metres from a nearby school.

As a result, dozens of students, parents and others could have been inconvenienced.

The terrible attempt at parking resulted in an immediate fine for the driver.

Gardaí attached to the Fermoy unit in Cork were not impressed, posting to social media with the following message: "Fermoy Community Policing observed this car parked on a pedestrian crossing earlier today, with plenty of parking spaces nearby.

"At this time, hundreds of students from nearby schools pass here to catch a bus, or walk safely home.

"Please consider other road users when parking.

"Saving yourself a couple of seconds walking puts others at risk, and will cost you €40. A fixed charge penalty was issued for this offence."
