Gardai slam 'dangerous' behaviour of drivers as people swarm to beauty spots

Gardai have slammed drivers for 'dangerous' parking at popular beauty spots this weekend.

With the weather reaching as high as 24C in parts of the country people are swarming to popular spots to get some fresh air and enjoy the weather.

However Gardai have hit out at people in Co. Wicklow for parking their cars illegally as car parks fill up.

Sharing a picture of swathes of cars parked one after the other gardai slammed the behaviour warning that anyone who parks illegally will be slapped with a fixed penalty notice and risk having their cars towed.

A spokesperson said: "Car parks in many of the popular public activity locations in Co. Wicklow are now full.

"Illegally and dangerously parked vehicles will receive FCPNs and be towed / removed.

"Please think of others and safety when enjoying the good weather today."

Ina separate incident Gardai arrested a motorist who was driving erratically in Naas before making a bigger find this week.

Officer said the driver had been driving dangerously leading to gardai stopping them.

But roads policing officers got more than they bargained for when they noticed a bit of a smell coming from the vehicle.

After searching the car gardai discovered that there was a whiff of cannabis from the car and the driver subsequently failed a roadside drugs test.

They were arrested and a court appearance will follow.
