Gardai shut Tipperary road as young man and woman rushed to hospital after serious crash

The N24 in Tipperary remains closed this morning after a serious crash on Thursday afternoon.

A woman, aged in her 20s, has been seriously injured and is being treated at University Hospital Limerick after the one-car crash near Fawnagowan.

She was a passenger in the vehicle, driven by a man in his 20s who was taken to South Tipperary General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Gardai confirmed a technical examination is underway this morning and diversions are in place.

A garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a single vehicle collision on the N24 near Fawnagowan in Tipperary, yesterday, 11th November 2021.

"The collision occurred shortly after 3pm. The driver, a man in his 20s, was taken to South Tipperary General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The passenger, a woman in her 20s, continues to receive treatment for serious injuries at University Hospital Limerick.

"The road will be closed for a period this morning, to allow for a technical examination. Investigations ongoing."
