Gardai seize vehicle after they found the driver 'excessively revving' at 1am

Gardai seized a car after hearing the driver 'excessively revving' the engine at 1am on Tuesday morning.

After hearing the noise, gardai from the Dublin Castle Roads Policing Unit, who were on patrol at the time, approached the car.

The car was found to have no NCT since 2017.

Gardai then seized the car, and a fixed charge penalty notice was issued.

However, this was not the only incident that occurred as gardai across the country were kept busy on Bank Holiday Monday.

Santry, Dublin

Santry Roads Policing Unit stopped a Volkswagen Golf after they observed the car driving through a red light.

Gardai found the driver was uninsured, and the car was seized with proceedings to follow.

Naas, Kildare

Naas Roads Policing Unit were conducting a checkpoint in Celbridge when they stopped a motorist who was driving suspiciously.

The driver failed a breath test and was found to be three times over the limit.

The driver was arrested and will appear in court at a later date.

Summerhill, Meath

In another case of drink driving, gardai in Summerhill, Co Meath were conducting a checkpoint on Monday night when a motorist who was driving erratically attempted to avoid the garda checks.

The vehicle was stopped, and the driver was asked to complete a breath test.

The driver was found to be intoxicated and had a disqualified license.

Gardai arrested the driver, and he was charged to appear before the courts at a later date.

Waterford

Gardai in Co. Waterford were conducting speed checks when they found a motorist to be travelling at 112kph in an 80kph zone.

They were issued a fixed charge penalty notice.

However, gardai were forced to stop the car again as the driver was found speeding a second time.

The driver took off from the traffic stop at 101kph and so was stopped by the gardai again and issued another fixed charge penalty notice.
